“I'm telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me-you did it to me.” -Jesus
Education
Tapadany Christian Acadamy opened in 1997. What started as only a preschool with 2 walls and a dirt floor and approximately 40 students is now over 650 students strong through the 5th grade. We have a library, kitchen, and feed the students and employees 2 meals a day. This also includes COPE House, a rescue house for children, which now has over 70 children. They range in age from 3 - adult and are fed, clothed and educated unless/until family members are able to care for them.
Evangelism
COPE was founded in 1997. The organization's headquarters is located in Lincoln, IL. The African mission is located in Tapadany, Pokot, Kenya. The purpose of the organization is to provide a Christian education to the children of the Pokot tribe located in Kenya. The ultimate goal of COPE is to bring each of the Pokot children and adults to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Since 1997, the mission has grown and developed and become a center for the community, teaching Christian beliefs and ethics.
outreach
There are few opportunities for employment for the Pokot who live in the West Pokot area. There are no jobs for the un/under educated. Bringing small development projects to the area goes a long way in improving economic conditions. Besides being the largest non-government employer in West Pokot, we have many ongoing projects that provide jobs, training and outreach for all levels of education.
Our Story
The mission of COPE is to provide education for Pokot children by empowering Christians and their community to nurture their children spiritually, mentally and physically so that they can grow into local and national leaders who think and act from a Christian worldview.
